Syringocystadenoma papilliferum of the external auditory canal: A case report and literature review

Syringocystadenoma is a benign adnexal neoplasm arising from the ceruminous glands, the most common locations are the scalp and the face. We report a 37-year-old female patient with a one-year history of conductive hearing loss and high-pitched tinnitus on the left ear, accompanied by the recent appearance of a tumor in the external auditory canal. Surgical excision of the tumor was performed and based on clinicopathological findings she was diagnosed with a syringocystadenoma of the external auditory canal (SCCAE), a benign tumor of low incidence, in an exceedingly rare location. Currently, only 18 cases of this disease at this location had been reported worldwide.
