摘要
Tissue regeneration is the process of repairing damaged tissue and producing new cells to replace lost cells. This specialized subfield focuses on creating cutting-edge tools and materials. New tissue formation is aided by a substrate, which is a supportive substance known as Scaffolds. Scaffolds are a type of biomaterial having their own unique chemical and physical characteristics. Biodegradability, biocompatibility, high adhesion ability, enhanced porosity, and cell and tissue interaction are all desirable qualities in a scaffold. As scaffolds are used to facilitate a wide variety of biological processes from cell proliferation and differentiation to cell adhesion and migration-their continued improvement is an ongoing necessity. Scaffolds for tissue regeneration can be made from either natural or synthetic polymers. Silk, collagen, alginate, fibrin, and hyaluronic acid are only a few examples of the many natural polymers employed as scaffolds in the regeneration of bone, hepatocytes, cartilage, and other tissues. Many synthetic biodegradable polymer-based scaffolds are also used in tissue engineering to regenerate new tissues and cells. In recent years, significant research has been conducted to produce polysaccharide-based biomaterials for use in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The purpose of this review is to provide an overview of the most studied polysaccharides employed in the development of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.
