摘要
Global protected area extent has increased recently but often outside areas of biodiversity importance. Governments recently committed to conserving 30% of land and seas, especially "areas of particular importance for biodiversity."Reviewing site-based conservation approaches, we propose harnessing key biodiversity area criteria to target such locations.
