摘要
The sensitivity of the climate to upsurges in atmospheric CO2 concentration is highly variable, from 0.005357 to 0.016071degree celsius/ppm in the literature. This work computes an updated value of the sensitivity parameter based on the best available results for the time series of global temperatures and atmospheric CO2 concentrations up to present. The sensitivity parameter is thus assessed at 0.007243degree celsius/ppm, which is in the lower range of values proposed so far. From the parabolic fitting of both time series, the further growth of temperature and atmospheric CO2 concentration by 2,100 are estimated at about 1.81degree celsius and 295 ppm. This gives a slightly smaller sensitivity parameter of 0.006136degree celsius/ppm. The novelty of this work is the updated computation of the sensitivity factor, which is much less than what is thought, based on the best available data for temperature and atmospheric CO2 time series.
