摘要
Schiff base ligands attract researchers due to their excellent coordination tendency with various metals and medicinal importance. In ancient times, copper was mainly used as an antimicrobial agent to purify water, and Cu(II) complexes possess a broad spectrum of medicinal values with less toxicity. Though a considerable number of Cu(II) Schiff base complexes have already been synthesized, researchers are continually synthesizing new complexes to explore novel bioactive agents. Therefore, this review summarizes the literature of the past 12 years by focusing on the synthetic developments of Cu(II) complexes and highlights their medicinal importance. It also emphasizes the spectral characteristics of the Copper(II) complexes, which would make it more intriguing, informative and beneficial to the scientific community, particularly in establishing the structures of the complexes.
