The author's experience of the formation of professional self-awareness among undergraduates at the East Siberian State Institute of Culture in the development of the discipline "Library Professiology" is revealed. Based on the views of A.V. Sokolov, on library self-awareness as an "emotionally experienced attitude", the authors took the concept of "psychology of relationships" by I.V. Myasishchev, who considered professional self-awareness as a system of specialists' relations: 1. to society, 2. to other people, 3. to himself as a professional. The importance and relevance of the development of professional self-awareness among future librarians is evidenced by examples from publications of well-known librarians and librarians: the presence of not professional, but everyday consciousness, not a high level of reflection. Many librarians do not understand the importance of the Russian librarian's code of ethics in their professional activities, do not use modern professional terminology, i.e., do not delve into the essence of modern library phenomena, etc. Higher education institutions are called upon to play an important role in the development of professional identity among future librarians. Characterizing the contingent of students in the direction of training "Library and information activities", it was concluded that the level of formation of professional consciousness among students is not uniform. Its alignment is facilitated by the use of various forms and methods of working with students during training sessions. Changes in the Federal State Educational Standards of Higher Education, long-term work of teachers of the Department of Library and Information Resources for the preparation of library personnel, interaction with students of retraining programs and advanced training courses served as the basis for introducing the discipline "Library Professiology" into the curriculum. All this created the preconditions for testing the experience of developing professional self-awareness among undergraduates. Using interactive pedagogical technologies, an attempt is made to form the librarian's awareness of his role in society, in the local community, awareness of his attitude towards users, social partners, colleagues, etc. Awareness of the attitude towards oneself, improving one's qualifications, development, etc.
