摘要
Grinding is a key technology for difficult-to-machine materials, e.g., super alloys, ceramics, and composites. The material removal behavior is dependent on almost all grinding parameters, which have a strong effect on the grinding force, shape accuracy and surface integrity. However, due to the complex mechanism and numerous influencing factors in the grinding process, it is difficult to establish an accurate mathematical model to systematically analyse the work material removal behavior. To understand the current status and future trends of material removal in the grinding process, this paper adopts a systematic review approach to summarize the research findings that investigate the influencing factors and corresponding models of the material removal rate (MRR) for the grinding process. The material removal mechanism of grinding is first discussed, in which the influencing factors of material removal in the grinding process are analysed. Subsequently, research progress on prediction models for material removal is summarized according to the influencing factors. Meanwhile, the application of the material removal model is well demonstrated due to its ability to accurately control the MMR and simulate the grinding process. Finally, in regard to the above academic achievements, conclusions and future trends in material removal analysis for grinding processes are given.
