摘要
The purpose of the article is to analyze memory in the novel Becos da Memoria, by writer Conceicao Evaristo, focusing on memory as a constitutive element of the black narrative presented by the aforementioned writer. The work presents in its plot a story narrated from memories that intersperse the protagonist's lived time. Its historical context represents the descendants of enslaved people, who even after abolition suffered to gain a space in society due to the legacy of slavery in the country. A legacy that makes Evaristo fight for black representation within Brazilian literature.
