摘要
Due to the characteristics of the new global online sports betting market, a historical practice in sport, such as bettingrelated match-fixing, underwent a radical reconfiguration. Match-fixing became a phenomenon related to the infiltration of transnational organised crime in sport. The succession of scandals at the international level led to the issue being placed on the political agendas of international organisations, governments and security forces. This context led to the emergence of a new area of social studies with diverse lines of funding and international impact due to the political, economic and social interest in the problem. South America is not exempt from the problem. But despite the fact that cases of gamblingrelated match-fixing are beginning to multiply, academic interest in the subject remains low. This article argues for the importance of studying the issue and presents a research agenda and an action plan for the region.
