A study of Risk Factors for breast cancer in AL-Anbar Province A Case- Control Study

摘要
Background: breast cancer has multiple risk factors, such as genetic susceptibility, nutrition, environmental, life style. Determining risk factors and reducing breast cancer incidence can be done by implementation of good strategies for control and prevention.Objectives: To detect breast cancer risk factors among women in AL-Anbar province and to identify the importance of these factors in a breast cancer development.Patients and method: A case _ control study done conducted in Anbar Cancer Center. A total of sample 180, divided to 60 cases and 120 controls. Controls were without any breast problem. A questionnaire applied with direct interview with all patients in the study group.Results: The study shows that women in the age group between 41-49 years old were in higher 48% with breast cancer. The majority of cases were illiterate 48%.about menopausal status, 75% of cases were premenopausal. The Family history was increased risk for breast cancer 3 times compared with no such history. Regarding obesity shown to be more in cases 82%. Early menarche has risk of breast cancer. Breast cancer risk was decreased in porous women. Multiple births appear to be breast cancer -protective. Women who gave birth to their first child at full term before age 30 have an increased risk of developing breast cancer. Mothers who did not breast feed at high risk of breast cancer. Menopause at age >= 50 years was significant for risk for breast cancer. Women used previous contraceptive pill were at risk of breast cancer.Conclusion: This study conclude, the peak age of frequency between 41-49 years of cases . from this study obesity , level of education , late menopause , early menarche , nulliparous , family history , mild physical activates, history of preterm delivery , no breast feeding , previous use of contraceptive pills , were risk factors for developing breast cancer.
