SEA ICE DETECTION USING THE DATA OF SWIM RADAR ONBOARD CFOSAT SATELLITE WITH OTSU METHOD

摘要
The paper presents preliminary results of sea ice detection method using the data of Ku-band radar at low incidence angles in the range 2 degrees - 10 degrees. The data on sea ice concentration from AMSR-2 measurements are used for validation. The simple classification approach to detect sea ice, based on Otsu method was applied. This unsupervised thresholding method demonstrates good accuracy for all incidence angles and can be used as an alternative method for ice/water discrimination.
