Neoliberalismo y desigualdad social. Exclusiones sociales y usos mercantilizados del espacio público en Neuquén.

Neoliberalism as a political rationality refers to practices, power devices and discourses that propose pro -market reforms and the subsidiarity of the State. From this rationality, processes of commodification and social exclusion are accelerated in various areas of daily life, including public space. In this paper we study how subsistence activities in public spaces in the city of Neuquen have been approached, from a neoliberal rationality, between 2012 and 2021. From the newspapers La Manana and Rio Negro, with a wide reach in the north -Patagonian zone, the effects of inequality were commodified uses of public space in Neuquen were addressed. In particular, we describe how the activity of those who washed and cared for cars in the city center was controlled, through discourses of exclusion, at the time of the implementation of a metered parking system.
