Growth and characterization of organic 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone single crystals for nonlinear optical applications

摘要
The organic 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone single crystals were grown by the slow evaporation solution growth technique. Single crystal X-ray diffraction (XRD) and powder XRD studies show that the grown 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone crystal belongs to the monoclinic crystal system with the centrosymmetric space group P2(1)/c. The FTIR and FT-Raman spectral studies were used to identify functional groups in the grown crystal. The UV-Vis studies show that the cut-off wavelength is observed around 398 nm, and the various linear optical parameters were calculated. Thermal analyses were used to identify the melting and decomposition points of the grown 2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone crystal. The kinetic and thermodynamic parameters were calculated. The dielectric properties were analyzed using the parallel plate capacitor method, and the electrical parameters were calculated. Nonlinear optical properties were investigated using the Z-scan technique with two different laser sources nano pulse Nd:YAG laser and continuous wave diode laser.
