摘要
The risk of pounding between adjacent structures during earthquakes may considerably depend on the effects of Soil Structure Interaction (SSI) between the soil, the foundation and the structures. The paper considers two adjacent low-rise buildings with different lateral stiffness and founded on shallow foundations. Overcoming most of the existing literature, this paper proposes advanced numerical 3D models (soil + foundation + buildings) by performing OpenSees that models the non-linear mechanisms of the soil and may realistically represent the mutual role of soil deformability and structural flexibility. A parametric study is performed on several soil layers with the aim to represent code-defined soil typologies.
