Large modulation of perpendicular magnetic anisotropy by CoPt3 induction in Co/Pt multilayers with Fe2O3 inserting

摘要
The effect of ultra-thin discontinuous Fe2O3 inserting on the perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in Ta(3)/ Pt(1)/[Pt(1)/Fe2O3(t)/Co(0.4)]3/Pt(2)/Ta(4) films(unit:nm)is studied. It is found that the addition of Fe2O3 blocked the connection between Pt and Co at the Pt/Co interface and prevented the generation of Co/Pt superlattice structure in the as-deposited film, so that the film does not show PMA. After 400 celcius annealing, CoPt3(1 1 1) structure was formed and the film exhibited PMA. The film with Fe2O3 inserting has better CoPt3(1 1 1) crystal structure and lower coercivity than those without inserting. Inserting Fe2O3 is good way to increase the PMA and thermal stability in [Co/Pt]n multilayer.
