The prevention of teenage pregnancy in the training of residents of Gynecology and Obstetrics

The medical care practice allows us to recognize an external contradiction between the educational preventive work that the specialist in gynecology and obstetrics must develop about pregnancy in adolescence and the insufficient treatment of this issue in the primary health care entrusted to the General Practitioners. In the present work, a characterization is shown from the results of educational research about the permanent training of health care professionals; the training of resident doctors in Gynecology and Obstetrics, its relationship with the GP in primary health care (PHC) and with the Maternal and Childcare Program (MChP) from its conceptualization and adaptation to the educational/preventive characteristics of Cuban medicine for its contextualization to the interactive dynamics in the health care areas. To this end, theoretical methods are used for the aforementioned characterization, as well as empirical methods that allow the search and processing of information that supports the transformations that are intended to be achieved in these professionals.
