摘要
The tranformations that have taken place in school space and time are often seen with nostalgia by generations who attended school benches in the past, criticizing the current educational system. In the face of inquiry whether the school of olden times was better than the current one, the goals of this study were to present significant data on Brazilian education in the period from 1943 to 1965, based on minutes of pedagogical meetings of a school in the countryside of Sao Paulo that had great significance in the educational process in the 20thcentury as well as to make a parallel between significant aspects ofeducation in the middle of the last century and the current one regarding school organization. From point of view of the methodology used, we highlight the analysis of the pedagogical minutes, proposing reflections and notes of themes focused on education regarding the three aspects we instituted: school and its social role, financial conflicts in education and curricular issues. The work made it possible to understand that education in Brazil has always been considered a privilege of the elites with no appreciation and fairness that ends p disqualifying teachers and those who attend.
