The principle of non-refoulement in the case of unaccompanied asylum seeking children: the work of the Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC)

The circumstances in which unaccompanied foreign children find themselves give rise to a particular set of problems from the perspective of the protection of the right to asylum. The Committee on the Rights of the Child has addressed the rights of these minors in numerous General comments, thereby adopting a corpus of inescapable reference for States and entities assisting asylum seekers and unaccompanied children. In particular, the Committee has addressed the issue of non-refoulement of asylum seeking children, reiterating the essential aspects of this customary rule and paying particular attention to particularly vulnerable groups of asylum seeking children.
