Social capital and capacity development in young university students of rural origin

This paper analyzes social capital and development of capabilities among young university students of rural origin, specifically from the Utopia Project of the University of La Salle. To fulfill such goal, a quantitative analysis was developed, with a non-experimental design of descriptive scope, which sought to analyze situations within a certain human group, measuring and evaluating variables of social capital (trust and solidarity, groups and networks, cohesion and inclusion and empowerment and political action), as well as human capabilities (emotions, affiliation and control over one's own environment). The results of this research respond to the articulation and integration of the variables analyzed in the experience of 114 young people of the Utopia Project and how, progressively, they discover the potentialities that can arise from themselves as well as those than the Utopia project offers them.
