摘要
After reviewing the references in which the presence of Afro-descendant characters is appreciated, we focus on two novels because, in some way, they represent the effort to approach the ethnocultural group with their most relevant features. Charun-Illescas and Martinez present their novels in which one can appreciate the way of thinking, customs and beliefs of the Afro -descendant population. The important thing is that we can appreciate how Afro-descendants appear progressively in the novel from zero invisibility (person without a name) and in the condition of slaves until we observe them as a protagonist and narrator character who, from their own sociolect, testifies how they see the world and its institutions. We highlight Charun Illescas' novel as it allows us to know the religious syncretism practiced by Afro-descendants as they were Catholics but sang invoking the deities of distant Africa.
