This discussion focuses on Dr Huang's use of the esthetic, her experience of the "ineffable" in treatment, and the limitations of spoken language in capturing affect, which are enacted in her essay. I elaborate on art as a medium that accesses unformulated experience that is known through a feeling but not yet cognized or worded, and suggest that the esthetic moment we experience via various art mediums provides a non-languaged symbolization that resonates with the echo of our primary object relations.
