The synthesis of conjugated polymers with controlled stereoregularity and molecular weight has been widely studied. Recently, application to block copolymers has been developed, and conjugated polymers with various functions have been reported. As increased attention is given to organic magnetic materials as next-generation synthetic metals, we synthesized chiral magnetic block copolymers with a polythiophene backbone with high stereoregularity in this study. A phenoxy radical was introduced into one side chain as a magnetic block. In addition, a chiral substituent was introduced into the other side chain as a chiral block. The block copolymer synthesized in this study has high stereoregularity in both the chiral and magnetic blocks. In addition, a one-handed chiral aggregation is formed due to the influence of the chiral substituent. Furthermore, magnetic measurements indicate that phenoxy radicals are generated and may imply antiferromagnetism. Based on the spectroscopic data, a chiral magnetic material with high stereoregularity was successfully synthesized.
