摘要
The last few years have been decisive in the current conformation of the informal city, given that a large part of the disasters attributed to natural causes -tsunamis, floods or hurricanes- are, in effect, the product of human actions. The marginalized social sectors of the economic system, mobilized by different dynamics of appropriation of the land, are the ones that, in common, settle in areas of environmental vulnerability. This work raises the need to measure the population settled on hydric risk in popular settlements of the city of La Plata, Argentina. For this, a dangerousness index is defined in relation to the height and flow of water in extreme flood events in the popular settlements of the city. As a result, the number of settlements and population under hydric risk is known, which allowed defining guidelines for improvement and mitigation of said risk.
