2D Imaging of a Drone Using a Millimeter-Wave Fast Chirp MIMO Radar Based on Khatri-Rao Product Virtual Array Processing

摘要
In this paper, we propose a 2D imaging method of a drone using a millimeter wave fast chirp MIMO radar that can estimate distance and direction of arrival (DOA) simultaneously. The accuracy of DOA estimation (angular resolution) depends on the aperture length of antenna array. Therefore, in order to improve the angular resolution, we have applied the Khatri-Rao product virtual array processing which can virtually increase the aperture length of antenna array, and aimed to realize highresolution 2D imaging of a drone. In order to investigate the effectiveness of our proposal, the measurement experiments were conducted for three types of typical commercial drones (Phantom 3, Matrice 600, Mavic pro). The experimental results showed that our proposal could improve the 2D image of each drone and make it easier to recognize the shape of drone.
