Ni2NbSn Heusler ferromagnetic superconductor: Magneto-structural and transport characterisation

摘要
This work presents the preparation and characterisation of the multifunctional Ni2NbSn Heusler alloy. The alloy was prepared using arc melting in the form of an ingot showing an L21 Heusler structure. The resistance measurements confirmed the superconductive character of the Ni2NbSn alloy with the critical temperature of TSC = 3.00 K and the upper critical magnetic field of mu 0HSC = 0.69 T. Magnetic measurements confirmed strong diamagnetic contribution arising from the superconducting state and the additional ferromagnetic contribution observable below 13 K. The coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism in Ni2NbSn Heusler alloy may give rise to new applications based on magnetic shielding or electromagnetic invisibility.
