摘要
Objective: To describe the trend of obesity percentages in the adult population residing in state capitals and the Federal Distrit, in the periods 2006-2011 and 2006-2021.Method: Cross-sectional study, based on data from the Surveillance of Risk and Protective Factors for Chronic Diseases by Telephone Survey for the period 2006-2021. Average annual changes (vma) of obesity percentagens were estimated for que periods 2006-2011 and 2006-2021.Results: During the study period, the percentagens of obesity increased in all state capitals and in the Federal Distrit. The estimated vma for the reference periods reveal a decrease in the upward trend in most state capitals and the Federal Distrit. Greater decreases are recorded in Curitiba (0.86 t0 0.47/year), Fortaleza (1.27 to 0.60/year), Manaus (1.39 to 0.87/year), Rio Branco (1.51 to 0.73/year), Rio de Janeiro (1.02 to 0.65/year), etc. Conclusion: There is a decrease in the trend of increasingg obesity percentagens in most state capitals, except in Belem, Belo Horizonte and DF. Regardless of the decrease in vma, obesity will continue to increase in the recent future; such a scenario requires, inaddition to the joint action of the responsible sectors, greater commitment from the population, especially those with excess weight, to become more physically active, as well as the option for healthier food.
