Student identity,their dichotomous logical framework,and teachers’ beliefs constitute the major obstacles in conducting classroom discussion on controversial issues. This essay analyzes these obstacles and provides suggestions for teachers in tackling the problems,so that classroom discussions on controversial issues may exert beneficial outcomes.
