In the summer of 1950 the authors of the present paper took part under theleadership of Prof.Sung Ta-chuan in the soil expedition to N.E.Chinaand the Autonomous Region of Inner Mongolia and have visited seven regions,ofwhich a short description follows hereafter.The description of soil profiles,which was compiled together with the Chinese members of the expedition,isomitted as it has already been published.
