There commonly exists a phenomenon of negative transfer of Chinese in our students’ English writing. Grammar, vocabulary, and expression are marked by the interference of Chinese which greatly impedes the improvement of the students’ writing communicative competence. This is mainly due to the inadequacy of the students’ language input. In view of the present situation, this paper aims to analyze some typical errors that the senior school students (Grade l)make in their writing so as to reveal the tact that during the process of second language acquisition, learners tend to transfer some of their Ll features into the target language in the field of phonetic, vocabulary, especially in the field of grammar. Therefore. the study of the Ll transfer and the error analysis are crucial in the research of the writing of a L2 and it plays an important role in the teaching and learning of a L2.
