1. IntroductionWhen a high voltage pulse arrives at the cathode-anode gap of an ion diode, the strong electric fields atthe cathode cause an explosive electron emission anda layer of cathode plasmas formed near the cathode.Anode plasmas are usually produced by energeticelectron bombardment [1] and the flashover mech-anism [2] over anode dielectric material surface. Theelectric fields in the cathode-anode gap cause elec-trons to accelerate towards the anode and ions toaccelerate towards the cathode. Usually in the for-mation of anode plasmas, a large quantity of neutralparticles [3] are also produced.
