摘要：

This article first analyzes the internal construction of American metropolitan ecological organizations in the first part of the Twentieth Century,and then the effects of the various forces\_\_the technological,economical,environmental and socio\|cultural forces\_\_in the evolution from the ecological organizations of the walking city to that of the metropolitan area.The formation of the metropolitan area is only one phase of the evolution of the urban community.
