This article addresses the problems of maintaining a useful life for the reservoir. flood stages to be anticipated at Chongqing, sedimentation in its region of fluctuating backwater. deposition of sediment in the vicinity of the dam and assessment of any possible impacts of the project on the estuary of the Yangtze River.
