IntrodCtionPraetiees among rural residents in eentral and westernChina.Census data of 2000 indieated that the ChinesePoPulation aged 65 and over had aeeounted for7%ofthe total PoPulation.In urban areas,in Partieular,thatratio was 6.30%and in rural areas,it was 7.35%.Onaverage,China had entered an aging soeiety.
