Performance Analysis of the Network Protocol of the VOD on LAN

摘要：
With the increase of the need for VOD service on IP Networks, many techniques of VOD on LAN come into being. Lots of researchers claim that TCP protocol is unsuitable for this kind of service, and prefer UDP to the previous. On the basis of the Ethernet, we develop a VOD system using TCP . After related tests and analysis, we are confident that TCP is feasible. In this paper, we would like to study the problem of the difference between the two protocols, from the aspect of network capacity, transmit delay, traffic control, retransmission, etc.
