Ⅰ. EXPERIMENTAL Magnesium tetraborate, MgBO·9HO was synthesized from grade A. R. reagents. Its composition is (wt％) MgO 11.83, BO40.76, HO 47.43, BO/MgO (mole ratio) 1.995. It was identified as hungtsaoite (MgBO·9HO) by X-ray powder
