The knowledge of radiogenic heat generation distributed in the crust is indispensable for the interpretation of terrestrial heat flow patterns and for the calculation of geothermal models; therefore, it is a key to understanding the heat flow division in the crust and upper mantle, and the thermal state of the lithosphere.
