A Corpus-based Analysis on the Features of Clusters in Alice Munro's Runaway

摘要：

By using corpus analysis software AntConc, the paper attempts to analyze the features of word clusters used in Alice Munro’s Runaway. It is concluded that 2-word clusters are much more frequently used than 3-4-word clusters. And with the increase of word number in the clusters, the frequency of utilization declines. By further case-studying the top 20 frequent 3-word clusters,it finds out that the clusters containing personal pronoun"she"is dominating, which verifies Alice Munro’s feminist consciousness. In addition, the fact that negative word appears frequently in word cluster reflects women’s struggle in unfortunate life and set off the leitmotiv.
