摘要：

This article sums up the recent developments in various branches of earth science and, based on this, gives a detailed exposition of the disciplinary frontiers and developmental trends of the science. In addition, it expounds the national characteristics as well as the poor links, developmental strategy, supportive technologies as top priority and some S&T engineering problems in China’s earth science research. Finally, the article puts forward several suggestions for promoting geo-science in China.
