Janie Rees-Miller is Chair of Modern Languages and Director of English as a Second Language at Marietta College, Marietta, Ohio, USA. She is co-editor of the Handbook of Linguistics, published by Blackwell and distributed in China by the Foreign Language Teaching and Research Press, Beijing. She is also co-editor of Contemporary Linguistics, 4th US edition, the most widely sold introductory linguistics textbook in the United States. Her research interests include applied linguistics, second language pedagogy, and Native American languages, and she has published in journals such as the Journal of Pragmatics, TESOL Quarterly, and Anthropological Linguistics.
