1. Introduction to the project The Three Gorges Project is a key backbone project for the management and development of the Yangtze River. Its dam site is located in the middle section of the Xiling Gorge at the main stream of the Yangtze River, in Sandouping Town, Yichang City,Hubei Province, with a control basin area of about 1×10~6km~2,an average annual flow of 14 300 m~3·s,
