Walt Whitman——the Spokesman for American Whites

Walt Whitman has been renowned as the representative American poet of democracy. However, through an exploration of his early articles and poems, it could be found that both his political philosophy and cultural ideas were in accordance with the white identity of Americans, giving priority to the interests of white people rather than every single American resident. In this sense, it seems appropriate to consider Whitman as the spokesman for American whites.
