ANALYSIS OF THE VARIATIONS OF VOLUME TRANSPORTS OF THE KUROSHIO IN THE EAST CHINA SEA

The Kuroshio in the East China Sea,with its fluctuations,not only governs the dis-tribution and variability of the hydrographic conditions of nearly the whole East ChinaSea and adjacent regions,but also has a significant influence upon the climatic change ofthe southeastern coastal region of China.The magnitude of volume transports(for simplicity,abbreviated as VT hereafter)isone of the most important and evident indices characterizing the variation of the Kuroshio.Since the 60’s,the variation of VT of the Kuroshio in the East China Sea and its relationto the sea conditions south of Japan(including the variation of VT of the Kuroshio through
