Facing the pandemic of 2019 novel coronavirus infections: the pediatric perspectives

Since mid-December 2019, the novel coronavirus-infected pneumonia epidemic firstly broke out in Wuhan, and then rapidly spread throughout China and abroad. At the beginning of the outbreak of this emerging infectious disease, pediatric cases were rare. However, with the number of the infections reaching the peak and the wide use of testing kits in more regions, confirmed cases in children are increasing significantly, which should be given more attention. Here, based on summarizing the epidemiological and clinical features of present confirmed pediatric cases, we will focus our discussion on the epidemiological characteristics, prevention and control measures, clinical features and outcomes, diagnostic criteria and treatment in children cases, and put forward our perspectives.
