Study on Subtitle Translation in Zootopia——from the Perspective of Domestication and Foreignization

In the light of exchanges of international media, people attach greater importance to the translation of TV and film. Subti-tle translation of film is not only a simple transformation between languages, but also a communication between cultures. When werender culture in subtitles, there are two translation strategies that can not be avoided, namely, Domestication and Foreignization.Domestication is a translation strategy that conforms to the habits of language used in target language, while foreignization main-tains the exotic features of the source language. Nowadays, translation analysis is no longer limited to text, more and more attentionis given to the cultural background and its extralinguistic cultural references. This paper will analyze the subtitles of Zootopia andinvestigate the role of Domestication and Foreignization in animated films.
