摘要：

John Donne,one of the representatives in the metaphysical school,is famous for his innovative application of conceit,irony and image in his poetry.A number of scholars have studied his metaphors and techniques showed in his poetry.However,this essay attempts to explore the paradoxes presented in both of his love poems and divine poems,which probably is influenced by his frustrated life.
