Cheng Guodong Cheng Guodong is a research professor at the Lanzhou Institute of Glaciology & Cryopedology, an affiliate to the CAS. A major in hydrogeology and engineering geology when studying in the Beijing College of Geology, Prof. Cheng started his life-long career of a permafrost specialist after having left the campus in 1965. His research work is almost entirely carried out on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, covering the following three aspects: 1. Contributions to several key engineering projects in permafrost regions. At present, China has not set up standardized norms for geological surveys, engineering design and construction projects
