Move up,Move out

China has already become the world’s largest manufacturer of cement,copper and steel.Chinese producers have moved onto the world stage and dominated the global consumer market from textiles to electronics with amazing speed and efficiency.What will be the next area of Chinese domination? One possible answer is automobiles. According to the State Information Center,in 2015,China’s total auto output will reach 8.6 mil- lion units and China will surpass the U.S.as the world’s largest carmaker. The domestic market today is certainly large enough to support the development of domestic brands.Now what?Chinese automakers have two options:They can"move up"to increase their po- sition in China,or they can"move out"into the global market to challenge Daimler Chrysler,Ford, GM,Honda,Hyundai,Toyota,Volkswagen,and other well-established brands.
