摘要：
Tremendous work has been done on the growth and development of Chinese children and adolescents since 1949, the year the People’s Republic of China was founded. An investigation in 1979 showed that from 1955 to 1979, the height of boys increased averagely by 5.60 cm and their weight by 3.20 kg, while those of girls increased by 5.10 cm and 2.20 kg respectively. Changes in death rates, nutritional problems, physical exercises, and psychosocial problems of Chinese youth are also discussed.
