SOME REMARKS ON PROLAPSE OF THE IRIS AND ITS TREATMENT

Prolapse of the iris is a fairly common disease in Manchuria. Dur ing the last ten years, viz., 1924-1933, out of 36,230 eye patients, 375 o 1.03 per cent were diagnosed to have prolapse of the iris. The most common causes of the disease were perforation of the cornea resulting from trachomatous ulcer (52 per cent), eczematous ulcer (17 per cent), keratomalacia (10 per cent), gonorrheal ulcer (8.5 per cent), injury (5.8 per cent), smallpox (2.9 per cent), measles (2.9 per cent) and serpiginous ulcer (1 per cent) (Moukden Medical College and Hospital statistics).
