Three gorges Dam work on schedule

Ongoing construction of the Three Gorges Dam is expected to ensure interception of the Yangtze River between October and November of 1997. Overall, the first phase of the construction is being accomplished a bit ahead of schedule. The project officially started in December 1993. By the end of 1995, 108.8 million cubic metres of earth had been removed and 1.35 million cubic metres of cement placed.
